How to Apply for Fresh Passport
Preliminary Steps:
- Gather all your Information such as Educational Certificates, Id proofs, Address proof details etc.
- For present address proof - Election Commission Photo ID card (voter id card) required
- For Educational Qualification - 10th board Certificate is required for Non- ECR (Emigration Clearance Certificate) category candidates.
- Birth Certificate is Essential For persons whose date of birth after 26/01/1989 ( Birth certificate issued by a Municipal Authority or any office authorized to issue Birth and Death Certificate by the Registrar of Births & Deaths)
- Use Internet Explorer Browser for doing Online Registration
- Register as a new user in the passport seva website (www.passportindia.gov.in).
- Select your nearest Passport Office.
- Fill up the Registration form with Capital letters.
- After completion of registration you will get a link to your given email id.
- Use this link to get your account activated.
- You will moved to applicants home page.
- Choose your requirement from the list shown (e.g: apply for Fresh Passport/ Reissue Passport/ Police Clearance etc.
- You can download the soft copy of the form that contain interactive fields. Click here to download.
- Fill it offline (internet connection is not required to fill the form offline) .
- Then upload the filled form by Login in with your user id and password.
- Better way to fill up Online.
- Complete the application form, save and submit . Go to View Saved / Submitted application form.
- Schedule an appointment at your selected Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) by Click the "Manage Appointment" link.
- Print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number, Click the "Print Application Receipt" link to print.
- Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) where appointment has been taken, along with original documents.
- In PSK there are 3 steps Verification of All your Original documents that you have mentioned while filling the form, after payment received.
- For Normal Passport Application the police verification will be done at your given resident address within first month from the date of verification at the PSK.
- After Police verification at your permanent address, You will get your Passport within 3-5 months.
